Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA

I finally got to try Dogfish Head’s 120 Minute IPA. It was good, But was disappointed by all the hype.
It poured a tawny red with a slight head that disapated in seconds,
Strong malt overwhelmed dries fruits, burnt sugar, citrus, slight grass and alcohol aromas.
Kaboom! What a huge flavor for a lil 12oz beer: sweet malts, grapefruit, burnt sugar, grass and alcohol. Each sip revealed new flavors! I purchased a few bottles, and plan to shelve them for later dates, to let the flavors mellow and become more complex.
For being a beer that is supposed to be for Hopheads, I was disappointed. The sweet maltyness overwhelmed the hops, I perfer more bitterness to balance the beer some more.
I’ll look forward to trying again in 6 months or so.
